What FMCSA Regulations Mean for Your Oregon Truck Accident Claim
Most drivers who travel US-97 through Bend share the road with commercial trucks every day without thinking much about the regulatory framework governing those vehicles. That changes fast after a crash. Suddenly, police reports reference 49 CFR, insurers mention FMCSA compliance, and the paperwork starts to feel like a second language. Understanding what those federal […]

What to Do When Poor Property Maintenance Causes You an Injury

Getting injured unexpectedly is jarring, painful, and often confusing. You went about your day, trusting that property owners would maintain a safe environment, and now […]

Negotiating Slip & Fall Settlements Outside of Court in Bend
If you’ve been injured in a slip and fall accident, the aftermath can bring a lot of uncertainty and stress. Worries about medical bills, time off work, and physical pain may leave you unsure about your next steps. Many Bend residents find themselves wondering how they can negotiate a fair settlement without taking their case […]
These articles explain how Oregon personal injury claims work, from the first call to settlement or trial: car and truck crashes, motorcycle accidents, slip and fall and property maintenance injuries, construction site injuries, and catastrophic injuries that change how a person works and lives.
The same framework applies to almost every claim. The deadline to file is generally two years from the injury (ORS 12.110), and a claim against a public body needs written notice within 180 days (ORS 30.275). Fault is shared under Oregon’s comparative fault rule (ORS 31.600), so the evidence gathered in the first weeks decides much of the case. Damages include medical care now and in the future, lost income and earning capacity, and the pain and limits you live with.
Those damages are proved with records, not estimates: every medical bill and chart note, a treating provider’s opinion on future care, pay stubs and an employer’s statement of missed time, and a plain log of what you can no longer do. Personal injury protection, health insurance and any provider treating on a lien are repaid from the recovery, so the final number has to account for them.
Several posts deal with timing: why early offers are risky when an injury is serious, how a fall claim is negotiated outside of court, and what federal trucking rules mean for a truck crash claim.
